About

The Inspiration

Technology has always been the life-blood of any smart and developing society, from its humble roots involving basic tools and dwelling structures, to the contemporary information-technological universe it encompasses. Tech powers our homes and workplaces, delivers our entertainment, connects us to one another, and promises to improve our quality of life. There is no doubt that in the last three decades technology has advanced exponentially and successfully embedded itself into everyone's life. At the same time, technology has also impacted our lives in ways that we did not anticipate and raises thought-provoking questions on how it can be used and managed responsibly. Thus, technology, computers, and electronics are no longer the domain of the "geek." Technology concerns all of us and has proven to be an influential and potent force in society. And, there is no more opportune time to examine it, discuss it, and make ourselves informed.

The LayTechnologist strives to provide smart, thought-provoking, and informative commentary on the latest ideas and issues that affect all of us. From consumer electronics and apps to coverage of transformative developments and discussion of issues at the intersection of technology and society, it strives to be a fun as well as deep read on a number of timely and interesting themes. It is intended for the smart, curious, and informed, but non-expert, who has a penchant for or a growing curiosity in tech and everything it entails.

The Author

The LayTechnologist was founded by Harvey Zeytuntsyan. Harvey earned his bachelor's degree from UCLA, with course focus in social psychology and public policy. Harvey later went to law school where he earned his Juris Doctor and his studies included focus on corporate innovation and legal policy. He has gone on to practice law in a unique administrative practice area enabling him to work with talented and hard working scientists, engineers, creators, inventors, researchers, and thought-leaders from around the world. Harvey also has unique background as a first generation Armenian-American. Within three generations of his roots, his family has lived on three different continents, under four different governmental systems, one of which no longer exists, and they speak, collectively, five languages. Here in the U.S., he was raised on the west coast in California but has also lived on the east coast and had a brief stint in the south. These experiences, and his other world travels, have helped paint his worldview and exposed him to a diversity of cultures and perspectives.

Harvey is also an adjunct instructor at San Diego College of Continuing Education and an educational content editor and developer. You can check out his ePortfolio hosted on the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) at:

He has published content on the Udemy platform. Including, How to Become a Paralegal: A Concise Overview and Legal Research & Legal Writing - A Paralegal Skills Course (part of a skills series). Harvey's latest skills course on the Udemy platform includes Legal Technology & Efficiency - A Paralegal Skills Course. A brand new skills course just released in 2025, includes Introduction to Immigration Law - Complete Overview Course.

Harvey enjoys thinking about technology in the abstract and tinkering with its applications. He is intrigued by creativity, ingenuity, innovation, and is a firm believer that smart innovations through technology can improve our lives and solve individual and group problems. He is choosy in publishing but tries to be incisive, engaging, and insightful in his pieces. Constructive feedback and commentary is always welcome.

Sections and Layout
